Military Scholarships

Military students at the Sioux Falls SD, campus of Globe University benefit from the special programs we offer to active duty personnel, veterans and their families. We are proud to be a military-friendly school and a Serviceman’s Opportunity College (SOC). We know that US military students and their families face special challenges as students. We are dedicated to helping them overcome any obstacles they encounter as they pursue college degrees.

Special services for military students

We provide more than scholarships. We have military services staff whose jobs are to support and assist military students with everything including completing the application, receiving military benefits and selecting the right program. They are retired active duty military who understand your concerns and are dedicated to making your educational experience as rewarding as possible.

If you are a vet, active duty, or a family member and have questions about military scholarships or any other matter, please contact our Sioux Falls campus and ask for our Military Services liaison.

We offer scholarships just for service members, veterans, spouses and their dependents. These programs are a tangible symbol of our appreciation for the service and sacrifice of these students.

Military Service Scholarship

This scholarship is designed for wounded vets injured in Iraq or Afghanistan or their families.

Purple Heart Scholarship

This scholarship is intended for service members and veterans injured during the Gulf Wars. Spouses and dependents of soldiers killed in action during these conflicts are also eligible for this scholarship. It pays for tuition and fees that are not covered by veterans’ benefits and other sources of financial aid.

Military Advantage Scholarship

This scholarship covers 10 percent of the cost of quarterly tuition and books. It supplements other military education benefits, such as the GI Bill/College Fund. It will be applied as a credit to tuition and book charges on a student’s account.

Military Active Duty Scholarship

This program is for qualified students who are active duty service members and their families. Recipients of this scholarship will receive an amount equal to the difference between the current tuition per credit charge and $250. Restrictions apply, so consult our military student services staff to learn more.

Eligibility for our military scholarships

There are a number of eligibility criteria for each of these scholarships. Scholarship applicants must demonstrate their military status as follows:

  •   Active duty
  •  Active reserves
  •  Veterans honorably discharged
  • Spouses/dependents of veterans or active duty military

Military students may receive academic credit for their service

Veterans and active duty military may be able to receive credit for military training and occupational courses completed during military service. We follow the recommendations of the American Council on Education for granting credit for military work experience and training. Receiving credit for prior learning can reduce the number of courses required to complete a degree or diploma and reduce the cost of obtaining a college education.
